There have been all these dreamy Twingo posts. What I have here is a very early ‘93 Twingo in great condition, an odd (=brilliant) “United colors of Benetton” edition and it only costs €900. Time to put money where your mouth is!
Description in the ad:
Rentnerfahrzeug mit großer Liebe sehr gepfegt und gewartet;
Großes schwarzes neuwertiges Faltdach;
Garagenfahrzeug;
Guter sehenswerter Gesamtzustand;
8-fache Bereifung;
Alufelgen Sommer 145/70/R13;
Sommer-Reifenprofil neuwertig;
Stahlfelgen Winter 155/70/R 13;
Winter-Reifenprofil neuwertig;
VB 900,- EURO
Achtung: bei Verkauf inklusive neuem TÜV
Translation: Owned by a retired person who lovingly took care of the car. As new foldable roof. Garaged. Very good combined condition. Summer tires (as new) on alloys, winter tires (as new) on steel wheels. New German inspection at sale. Price: €900, negotiable.
147k km (<100k miles). First registration: April 1993.
Price might seem low, but it’s a 25 year old yet ubiquitous car that was produced until a decade ago. Furthermore, it’s a non-German car for sale in Germany. Meaning: price isn’t low for a Twingo this age at all, although given the condition it is low for this one.

Don’t forget about the optional dual airbags it seems to have! (Okay, I admit the airbag wheel is less pretty than the non-airbag one) I’m sure those make it safer to drive among m all c rawlers and b ro-trucks

I’ll add an offer to this: If a US Oppo imports a Twingo, I’ll send parts as needed

Meh, I don’t know much about airbags (last car I owned with one was a 1995 Corvette lol), but aren’t airbags supposed to be checked once in a while?? I mean, when listening to some people, every single component of a car might kill you is not checked properly and periodically, yet everyone seems fine with airbags that were never serviced for almost 3 decades...

The more you can get rid of anything Twingo from France, the more I like you...

Yeah, you might have a point there. I’m no expert either, but an explosive that goes of in your face, which hasn’t been looked after for near 3 decades might indeed be more dangerous than not having an airbag at all.
(It was meant more as a bit of a joke, as it is still a mk1 Twingo, with reduced structural rigidity due to a hole the size of the roof.)

If anyone want to ship that car to the US, I have good contact in Southampton to get it out and far away from France and Germany :)
If anyone need help, I can help!

And I only live about an hour away from that Twingo. Southampton though, that’s quite far away.

That’s good oppo :)

Those seats remained me of grade school

Yep, most likely a death trap on wheels with a bomb in the steering :)
I don’T care personnally as I’ve been daily driving death traps on wheels for over 10 years and even made it my work lol.... But I wouldn’t want someone with safety in mind think the car suddenly becomes safe because airbags hahaha

Take it on the Europpomeet, and buy something to replace it once you arrive in Southampton?

Yeah it’S where I ship all my cars to Japan from... Closer ports exist of course (Bremerhaven, Rotterdam...), but I don’t have any contact to ship from there...

I agree, driving death traps is a choice one should consciously make.
At least a Twingo is a slow death trap, haha

Yep, pretty much :)
Collectible cars are on another level... I’d daily drive a ‘69 Fiat Dino with 2 point seat belt in a heartbeat, but reality is that I can’t even count the number of people who would buy the 1993 model of such car because the 1991 model didn’t have airbags... It’s REALLY dumb :)

The seats are inspiring in me a weird mix of disgust and attraction... like looking at a big, messy, Livermush and pimento cheese sandwich.

I skimmed past that pic the first time. Wow.

Know anybody who could help me deal with export and import to Canada from Poland when the time comes for me to find a FIAT 126p for myself? :)
I know of a company in Poland already who will find and prep the car for shipping and drop it off at the docks for me...

If it ships from Southampton sure... But that’s the only port I know a good broker at. It’s where I ship my cars to Japan from...

Which is why you want it, right?

Any idea on the cost to ship to the US?
![]() 01/01/2018 at 10:54 |

From the UK to the east coast, probably around 1100$... Shipping from the UK is quite a bit more expensive than shipping from Japan. From here a car this side would cost about $600 to ship anywhere, east or west coast...

Wow, shipping from Japan is much less expensive than I would’ve thought.
Thanks so much for the info.

This is a very old post. W hats a shipping cost to the east coast? and does this contact also track down right hand drive models?
